Roll Up Your Sleeves ...

There's plenty of work here for those who love The Lord.  The Council of Ministries is headed by Patricia Jefferson and it is the umbrella organization responsible for all church ministries.  This page will be the central contact point for all church ministries.  So you may want to visit here often, as more updates are scheduled in the future.

Children and Youth

Sloan loves children and they love the way we minister to their needs.  Our children are treated to a schedule of fun and educational activities by our staff of experienced and motivated members.  We hold an annual Vacation Bible School each summer.  Our youth are also actively involved in the life of the church.  They participate in praise dance, Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, a Children's Choir and every 5th Sunday they lead Sunday Morning Worship Services.  We believe in giving them plenty of opportunities to share and develop their God-given gifts and talents with the congregation.  In that way, they develop into dedicated Christian Disciples who are fully participating members of the church.

The Nathan Billings and April Emmers Helping Hands Center

Our Helping Hands Center is an outlet for the Houston Food Bank.  We provide for the nutritional needs of less fortunate neighbors in our community.  The building also doubles as a meeting facility for various support groups who meet on our campus.

Elderly Care

Many of our members are the primary healthcare providers for members of their families.  We provide a special support group for such members.  We also keep close contact with our seniors and regularly provide them with social, prayer and sacramental ministries and support.

Christian Education

We have regular Sunday School classes that begin at 9:30 AM each Sunday Morning for various age groups.  Our Christian Education program also includes Confirmation and New Members classes.  Within all of our ministries, we have a Discipleship Infrastructure that aids members to grow as Christian Disciples while they work within their ministries of interest.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer is an important part of our lives at Sloan.  We believe in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives and circumstances, through our believe in Jesus Christ.  Our Prayer Ministry holds classes and workshops that focus on spiritual formation, healing ministries and the empowering of our ministries to meet our common objective of making Disciples of Jesus Christ and transforming the world.
